Sometimes you just get to camp next to the most beautiful places imaginable, Oamaru. It's also the home of Steampunk and a blue penguin colony.

 

Whilst having a little bite to eat a gentleman came over to talk with us from the local work's depot. He had a blue penguin mum and several chicks nesting in a wooden box in the workshop. He kindly took us in to quietly view them and then went on to tell us of the best fish and chip shop on the island. The kindness and generosity of the Kiwis is legendary. Thank you!
