Wild West Coast

Tofino seaplane

Wild surfing in Tofino and chilling on the beach in the sun. Even the planes ‘surf’ in and out. Angelique and Taio you would love this all day long waves but the North Pacific here is pretty cold so wet suits are a must.

We spent a few days camping in Ucluelet by the harbour and had an evening companion, a raccoon for company. Which was better than the introduction a
t the campsite where the lady said they have a bear and a wolf in the locality, so absolutely no attractants left out! Night times are beautiful here with the sun setting over the Pacific. The Wild Pacific Trail is a short hike around the promontory but gives amazing views, perfectly capturing the nature of this wild coastline.  Before leaving the area we had to do a couple of the trails around the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve which sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire tectonic plate.

our way over to Ucluelet and Tofino we passed Port Alberni which has a fabulous lake just north called Sproat Lake. So on the way back through we had lunch and a swim in it’s warm crystal clear waters. Dave really isn’t skinny dipping, he has blue trunks mon that blend nicely with the water. I think a house here would be wonderful, if only!
